Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.

Components

upgrade item components are items that can be put into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or impact while they're being used. They can be obtained through crafting, purchasing from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at least upgraded to the blue level to allow a component to be inserted. Upgrade components, unlike other mods can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component that is that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the non-ascended back items. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a quest in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

An upgrade could be prefixed or a suffix that alters the name of the equipment to which it is applied (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of that equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than is required to reach the same upgrade level through normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to alter the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player has completed the cutscene and defeats the Crazed Mechanical. They can also be dropped by enemies when upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash store for 500 upgrade crystals.

Each upgrade increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be available during the next reset. This gives players a reason to upgrade their equipment even in the event that they don't know how much it will be improved following a reset.

The process of upgrading an item can be costly and it is likely that the item will be obsolete or even break if the upgrade is unsuccessful. Upgrade Crystals and assist powder are also destroyed when the upgrade fails. This is alleviated by the availability cash shop items that can double or even eliminate the chance of failure, and some upgrades that provide an additional benefit when they are inserted into an item.

Glyphs

Glyphs are upgrade elements that can be placed in special sockets on the Paragon Board. Glyphs boost the power of all nodes within the area around them and include pre-existing affixes to equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded in various ways, and we recommend upgrading them to 15 levels as soon as possible.

In the final game you'll find that the Best item upgrade way to enhance your equipment is to use Glyphs. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded straight to level 15, and they provide significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes faster.

Most of the upgrades in the game can be replaced however Glyphs are the one upgrade component that can be removed and re-placed without restrictions. The only exception is legendary equipment that requires a Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and replace.

The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can choose to replace it with a Glyph of the same rank or a higher rank, which will boost the value of the glyph.

Glyphs are available in the Black Lion Trading Post as part of the Gem Store bundle or purchase them with certain tools that are unlimited in use, and during Faction Crypt Raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the many Glyphs and there are some rare glyphs to be found as drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have gotten the desired Glyphs you will require them to be placed on your equipment. Each Glyph unlocks a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes that are within a radius of the Glyph. Depending on the Glyph it could be +40 to one of your primary stats or +25 to two of your secondary stats.

Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all nodes connected to it, and you should try to place your Glyphs close to key nodes on the Graph to maximise the impact. Druids, for example should position their Glyphs close to their primary damage nodes. They might be able to place them near their primary damage nodes.

Leveling

The item upgrade system allows players to boost the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Each upgradeable item has a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items are able to be leveled until they reach a maximum level of 385 ilvl. Each level of an Best item upgrader requires a different amount of components to reach and the cost of upgrading increase as the item is upgraded.

Some upgrades require an ingredient to be activated. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or bought from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns a number of Technology Points. These points can be used to leveling up an item. When enough points have been earned, you will be able to claim the upgrade and receive its additional bonuses.

When the player upgrades an item to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a different item of the same type. The same armor will be upgraded to a weapon or a shield when upgraded. The new item will come with a bonus of its own. This could be a drawback in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do so. The item also loses any bonuses it earned, such as crit chance damage to attack, additional effects (such as an increase in healing over time, or the speed of reloading). The player will be able to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.

When an item is upgraded the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that if a weapon increases its crit chance that it will be applied before any damage to attack increases. A new attribute known as Slots is now added to the item's definition and the value is calculated every time an upgrade is applied.

The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item are dependent on its rarity score and upgrade slot count. The cost for upgrading non-premium items is equal to the base value of the upgrade. For instance, a standard equipment item might have 5 upgrades with a cost of 25,600 Technology Points and a 4x Quality Improvement Chance--whereas hero grade items will come with an incredibly lower cost for each upgrade item.

Premium items could require different upgrades than standard gear. For example they may require less sowels, but they will require more minerals and orons.
